A recent Q+A/YouGov poll highlights Australia’s healthcare affordability crisis, showing that nearly half of Australians (46%) have delayed treatment due to costs, and 76% are struggling to find bulk-billing doctors.
There's strong support for expanding Medicare to cover dental services, with 82% in favor of raising the Medicare levy for this purpose. Despite the government’s $3.5 billion investment to improve bulk-billing, the impact remains limited, and many still find it harder to access affordable care.
Additionally, 63% of Australians think health insurance is too costly and prefer government investment in hospitals over insurance subsidies. Health Minister Mark Butler acknowledged the need for continued reforms.
